Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior: Perfume/Fragrance Review

Katie Puckrik smells Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior. Please subscribe! I’ve had a boatload of requests to review this one, so here it is! For more information including where to buy, hippity hop over to my blog: www.katiepuckriksmells.com Transcript: Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior is a decadent oriental that vibrates between unusual and plain old weird. At the start, this eau de toilette is thick, flat, and borderline musty. Kind of like paste that almost smells good enough to eat because of a slight touch of almond sweetness. But if you did eat it, you wouldn’t be very happy with yourself, cuz you just ate paste. Because of the thickness, I find Hypnotic Poison a little suffocating when I first put it on. I actually feel claustrophobic, like I’m stuck inside a giant papier-mache dessert glued together with that aforementioned paste. Wait! Did you hear a woman’s voice coming out of that papier-mache plum-almond-coconut tart? That was weird. For me, Hypnotic Poison finally achieves lift-off when the jasmine make a break for it. The jasmine is a variety called sambac, which is particularly heady and fleshy. There’s also a jacaranda wood accord, which has kind of an intimate salty smell. Here’s where the Hypnotic Poison’s rich vanilla kicks it into a languid, sexy dance, instead of sitting on my skin like a slug. Made out of paste. Because I find Hypnotic Poison so challenging, I’d really love to know what you fumeheads think about it. Maybe you can help me with it

This is what I get from Hypnotic Posion I am a child of original Posion I adore the big sister fragrance so it was hard for me to like this one. But, I got this plastic note then a vanilla candle LOL But, after that it dried down to a nice sort of smokey vanilla it wasn’t bad.I read that this favorite fragrance of strippers its their reel them in fragrance.

@BellamyBlue Dior Addict is thick, bitter and sweet, heavy on the vanilla and cream. Perhaps the “weight” of it is similar to Hypnotic Poison, but it’s a bit of a busy clump of a smell, where HP swings.

@silvermagic222 Glad Hyp Poison played nice with you. And the good thing about Sephora is that they’ll make up a sample of any perfume so that you can take it home a try before you buy.

I haven’t tried this yet but I get recommended it all the time based on the fact that I love Dior Addict. Do you think they’re similar?

I absolutely LOVE Hypnotic Poison. I sprayed a little on my wrists in Sephora. At first I didn’t like it because it smelled like black licorice. But after a moment the smell went away and it turned into a nice warm musky vanilla on my skin. It by passes the jasmine, much to my relief because I really don’t like the smell of jasmine. The smell is long lasting and I love it. I would recomend trying it out at your local Sephora before buying, that way you don’t have to comit. But I really love it.

I love Hypnotic poison, it’s my winter perfume from the day it was first sold, I’m at my fifth bottle or so? Smells like dessert wine and a super lushious almond-vanilla cake. Everytime I use it, it’s like being in silk lingerie with a fur coat; I love it!

I used to avoid wearing it in the summer because of the same claustrophobic’ feeling that you described. Not so much anymore. I got a whiff of it in my dirty winter sweaters and decided to give it another go and I’ve never gotten so many compliments. I suspect its one of those fragrances that works magically with my own scent, pbr, smoke and sweat. Anyway, no more designating it to fall/winter. I think this might just have made the cut to one of my three signature fragrances.

I just swapped for a mini bottle, we’ll see how I like it! So far I’ve only smelt this in store& liked it ever since then.
So I’ve been interested in perfume since I was 12. Stangely I also always found those rich orientals very appealing.. but needless to say I knew I couldn’t _wear_ them ever back then -> I didn’t.
Like 7yrs later now, I muse if it’s not unsuitable anymore. Please, what do you think, can really young women wear this more or less?
